I was invited to College Fashion Week last week. I showed up at the Chelsea venue with frizzy hair and a completely makeup-free face. I had a cold and had been curled up in my room writing articles right until the minute I had to commute over to the event. When I got there, I learned how Andy from “The Devil Wear’s Prada,” Mia from “Princess Diaries,” or Gracie from “Miss Congeniality” must have felt post-makeover.
My first order of business was to swing by the Spindrift stand to get their sparkling water. I’ve been a long-time fan of Spindrift ever since they kindly delivered a case or two to Levo’s office. I chatted with the team and learned that Spindrift, founded in 2010, is America’s first and only sparkling water made with real, squeezed fruit. The water is triple-filtered and their fruit is picked from family farms, then squeezed, and canned. I also learned that they donate 1% of sales to environmental organizations. I didn’t know that they supported family farms or that they support a cause—just that I really liked the seltzer—so now I have two more reasons to love the brand! I picked up the Grapefruit, but they sent me a case so I’ve been going through all the flavors. My top three faves so far are Grapefruit, Raspberry Lime, and Lemon. (I recommend following them on Instagram to find out more and using their store locator to find Spindrift near you.) After picking up a refreshment, I headed over to the Ulta area for a makeover.
I had never tried It Cosmetics before, but after the makeover, I’m a huge fan! Their CC+ Cream made my skin look airbrushed and the Confidence in Your Glow really made me glow. It is a blush, highlighter, and bronzer in one! I also loved the Vitality Lip Flush which is a balm, gloss, stain, and lipstick all in one. (Gotta love makeup that lets you multitask!)
After getting my makeup done, I got my hair done. (I could get used to this lifestyle!) They styled my hair with Bed Head products and I got the crown braid style I’ve probably pinned a thousand times but have never done. Once my look was complete, I headed back to the Spindrift stand and grabbed a Lemon then settled in to watch the fashion show.
I also got to leave with a VIP bag filled with makeup, hair products, and the POPSUGAR Must-Have Box. It was such a funny coincidence because when I looked through the POPSUGAR box I realized it included a copy of “Power Your Happy.” I had loaned my totally dog-eared copy to a friend and had gone to two bookstores that day to find it for research for a project! Then, still in my glamorous hair and makeup, my friend and I ordered Chinese food and watched The Circle. My Cinderella-like evening had come to a conclusion.
