This year I am going to focus on something that I have been “bad” at for as long as I can remember: relaxing. I’ve never been good at taking time off. I often feel guilty for watching TV or spending the day reading. I always feel like I should either be working or doing something active like working out, getting together with friends, or going out and about in NYC. It’s healthy to relax and recharge, so I’m going to focus on doing that (and feeling okay doing that) in 2020!
Here are a few self-care activities I want to do more of in 2020:
-TV and movie marathons without my phone or laptop
-Walks in Central Park
-Long showers
-Getting in bed an hour or so early to read
-Start journaling again
Here’s How to Choose Your Word of the Year:
1. Reflect on the main themes from the previous year: How did you feel? What did you learn? What were some strengths and weaknesses?
2. Write down four or five words that you want to work on throughout the year.
3. Choose one word from the list.
4. Find a few action items you can focus on.
5. Think about that word (and act on it!) throughout the year.
Here are my words for 2017, 2018 and 2019.
