5 Good Finds: April 2018

Last month flew by so quickly! Here are five of my favorite finds for April!

Wild Wild Country: My friend Amanda introduced me to Wild Wild Country, a Netflix documentary about a religious community in Oregon in the 1980s. They build their own city in the Oregon desert, causing a major conflict with the local ranchers. The series documents the conflict, which also causes the first bioterror attack in the U.S. and a huge illegal wiretapping case. It’s fascinating.

SoulCycle: Who wouldn’t want to start their day with an early morning dance party? I’m working on a Forbes article about SoulCycle and they kindly gave me classes to take part in their SoulCycle Challenge. I totally understand why people are obsessed with SoulCycle! I feel so much better on the days that I go to a class. The instructors, playlists, and community cant be beat.

Digital Detox: My mom and I went on a spa vacation to celebrate my birthday and I left my phone in the room the entire time. I only checked my text messages in the morning and in the evening, and I didn’t check social media or emails once. I don’t think it was just the spa vacation that made me feel more relaxed and less anxious, not checking emails and social media constantly definitely contributed. I want to start doing a digital detox more often and am considering not checking my emails during the weekends and taking one day off of checking social media a week. (I am guilty of checking my emails and social media profiles before I even get out of bed…)

Aerie: Aerie recently opened up a new store in NYC and I stopped in when I had some time to kill before a meeting. I ended up stocking up on new bras and underwear. They have great deals like $35 for 10 pairs of underwear and half off on bras. My two favorite one-piece bathing suits are from there, too. I really admire Aerie’s commitment to body positivity, not retouching images, and authenticity.

RX Bars: I used to say that I’d rather eat three egg whites, eight hazelnuts, two cashews, and two dates than eat a RX Bar. Then my friend recommended eating one as breakfast before a half-marathon because I don’t like to eat a big meal before a long run. Now it’s my go-to half-marathon breakfast because I get a lot of nutrients without eating something that makes me feel full and nauseous before a run.
