Midnight Run 2018 Review

I didn’t start running until last year. In January, I decided one of my goals would be to start running and do the Midnight Run on New Year’s Eve. Luckily, I rounded up some friends and family. My mom hosted a lovely dinner for everyone then some of us bundled up and headed to Central Park. There was a pre-race party with a countdown to midnight, a fifteen-minute fireworks show, then the race started. It was freezing—the weather was just above 10 degrees, but it felt like -20 degrees. I wore a ski mask, running gloves, fleece-lined leggings, a long-sleeve workout shirt, a sweatshirt, and a puffy coat. I was still really cold. My phone even lost power from the cold. I’m glad we ended up doing the Midnight Run, there were thousands of people running and cheering, and it was a great way to get 2018 off to a very healthy start!
