I have been reading and writing for Career Contessa for years. Career Contessa was one of the first publications I wrote for when I started freelance writing and I am so grateful that the team helped me gain the confidence to pitch the publications I write for today. Lauren McGoodwin, the founder of Career Contessa, graciously gifted me a trial of their Hire a Mentor program. I jumped at the chance, especially because it was perfectly timed with my 30 Day Challenge to commit to personal and professional development. Career Contessa’s program has mentors with expertise in the job search, career advice, and specific industry experience.
I chose to meet with Amanda Holstein, the founder of Advice From a 20 Something and a writer at The Everygirl, for advice about the business of blogging. Amanda helped me with my strategy for Elana Lyn. It was especially helpful to learn about her recommended tools and organizations: Collectively, Federated Media, and Chloe Digital. I always thought that it would be hard to significantly monetize Elana Lyn without having fashion content but she assured me that it’s possible. I enjoyed meeting with Amanda and am sure that people would have a similar experience with the other mentors in the Hire a Mentor program!
