SWERVE Fitness Review

The Workout: SWERVE Fitness is the first team-inspired spin class. Riders are divided into three teams that compete throughout the 45-minute class. Your team accumulates points during short races as well as challenges where the goal is to hit a specific Revolution Per Minute. Your team’s SWERVE score is up on the board which motivates you to work harder and stay accountable. If you’re competitive this is the class for you. You’ll bike for most of class and take a short “break” to do arm exercises with weights. You get a great workout regardless of whether your team wins or loses so it’s a win-win all around. You get an email with your SWERVE score, your team score, your rank, your team’s rank, the number of calories you burned, and the number of miles you rode so you can track your progress from class to class. If you’re a fan of “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” you may recognize the spin studio from the hilarious SoulCycle spoof. It was filmed at SWERVE!

What to Wear and Bring: Wear tight-fitting gym clothes. Right now my favorite brands are Lululemon and Old Navy. Bring lots of water because it’s quite the workout. You can rent a pair of spin shoes. Forgot a hair tie, gum, or a mint? They have them at the front desk. You don’t need to bring a lock or toiletries. They have lockers with keypads and fully-stocked bathrooms with L’Occtaine products, a hair and makeup area, face wash and everything you need to get ready.

What to Expect: The class is hard. But it’s energetic, they play great music, there is a friendly atmosphere, and the instructors will motivate you to work your hardest. I always leave feeling accomplished and excited to go back for another class! My favorite instructors are Seth and Andy. You can order a smoothie before your ride and it’ll be ready and waiting for you when it’s time to go.
