I went to Y7 Studio’s Mega Detox Let That Shit Go workshop led by the Y7 senior teacher, Stephanie LaSpina. The two-hour detoxifying hot yoga class reminded me that yoga is both a physical and emotional exercise. Y7 Studio’s motto is “beat bumping, sweat dripping, candlelit yoga,” and the class lived up to the expectation.

The Workout:
I got to the beautiful Y7 Studio in Soho and grabbed a mat and props for Y7 Studio’s Mega Detox Let That Shit Go workshop.
We started with fifteen minutes of ab toning followed by seventy-five minutes of vinyasa flow and twenty minutes of relaxing postures. The vinyasa flow class included a lot of deep twists that cleanse internal organs and heat building vinyasa movements that build strength and energy.
The relaxing portion included yin and restorative postures including the most relaxing savasana ever and a ten-minute meditation. The meditation focused on clearing our minds of toxic thoughts to improve wellbeing.
What to Wear and Bring:
The room is heated to between 80 and 90 degrees with an infrared heating system that heats the entire room instead of blowing hot air. I recommend wearing shorts, a gym shirt, and a sports bra because you might want to take off your shirt.
Make sure to bring a huge bottle of water so you can stay hydrated throughout class. You don’t need to bring a mat, block, towel, or any other props.
What to Expect:
Like all Y7 classes, the music was fun, but I also enjoyed listening to Stephanie’s advice. I love what she said about the physical and psychological benefits of yoga. Stephanie said, “The great thing about yoga is that it’s a reminder that we are in control of our own destiny: Our hopes, our dreams, our happiness, and the stress we choose to let go.”
As my dad says, “You can’t control what happens, but you can control how you react. Bad things may happen but the most important thing to do is to be resilient.”
Like I mentioned in my 2015 review, last year had its ups and downs. The workshop was a perfect way to cleanse and detox stress and toxicity from last year and start anew! I absolutely recommend Y7’s class or a similar class near you.
I got a complimentary ticket to Y7 Studio’s Mega Detox Let That Shit Go workshop but this is an honest review.
