Featured: Forbes’ Podcast

Remember when I mentioned that I fulfilled my goal of doing something out of my comfort zone in April? Well…

Exciting news! It was featured on Forbes‘ new podcast, Two Inboxes, a show about people with full-time jobs and side hustles. I was so thrilled and honored to be able to share my story. It’s pretty remarkable that blogging helped me make the transition from the legal industry into marketing and writing. You never know what will happen after you hit publish!

The podcast is hosted by Molly Ford Beck, who you may recognize from the popular blog, Smart, Pretty & Awkward. I’ve known Molly ever since I took her blogging course at General Assembly. We had chatted a bit over social media and reconnected IRL when a friend told my I had to apply to be featured on a new podcast she heard about. And I’m so glad I did!

I’m impressed with Molly for a number of reasons, but one thing I really admire is how forward-thinking and proactive she is. Molly got an informational interview with someone at Forbes and came with a pitch for a Forbes‘ podcast. She even brought a PowerPoint presentation to the coffee meeting!

Main lessons: Be proactive. Be forward-thinking. Stay in touch. Here’s what Molly said about our experience: “Elana and I originally connected through blogging, something we both do outside of our full-time roles, and its so perfect we are now connecting through podcasting. The same way five years ago ‘no one’ had a blog and now ‘everyone’ does, I see podcasting going the same way: In five years, everyone will have a podcast! I’m thrilled to be sharing Elana’s story in this new medium! Also, love that she and I are neighbors (practically literally!) in the Upper West Side!”

I’d love if you listen to the podcast and rate it on iTunes! (Two Inboxes has recently been named New and Noteworthy by Apple!)

I know a lot of other bloggers read my blog. I want to hear your story! What has been one of the best things to happen since starting your blog?
