Good Advice: January 2016

I got to interview four more inspirational women this month. Here is my favorite piece of advice from each woman.

Elana Fishman, Executive Digital Editor at StyleWatch

“My favorite Taylor-ism: ‘No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.’ It’s so true — no matter what industry you’re in, you never, ever forget when someone’s been nice to you. Kindness goes a long way. Also, I’m a full advocate of ‘shaking it off’ — the stress, the self-doubt, the second-guessing oneself — on a regular basis.” — Elana Fishman

Macaela Mackenzie, Senior Planning Associate at Ketchum and Freelance Writer

“Don’t think you have to have it all figured out today. I stressed a lot about finding the perfect opportunity right out of college, but that type of situation doesn’t really exist. The older I get, the longer I realize life is — you have a lot of time to build your dream career. My freelance career started simply because I started doing what made me happy on the side. When you’re truly passionate about something you’re doing, it starts to create opportunities for you.” — Macaela Mackenzie

Kris Ciulla, Vice President of Design and Sales at Ciner

“Work hard! Be persistent. Keep pushing. Never give in — and never give up. Hard work always pays off. There are no short cuts. You must pay your dues. It is also very important to figure out what you love so you can be truly happy in your professional life.

I never know what the time is — if you never know what time it is during your workday, it means you truly love what you do.” — Kris Ciulla

Katie Corcoran, Lifestyle Coach and Author

“Always keep your mind open to new possibilities and remain curious. Every new person or opportunity you have is a step in a direction toward your growth — whether it’s career-related or not!” — Katie Corcoran
