I recently discovered two new online career resources, 50 Ways to Get a Job That Makes Good and Good.co.
50 Ways to Get a Job That Makes Good: This website provides actionable steps that help you get a job and shape your career. You can check off steps once you complete them or get a reminder at a later date. Assignment categories include: finding a purpose, overwhelmed, learning new skills, networking, stuck, and applying for new jobs. The end goal is finding a job where you are happy and solve a greater purpose.
Good.co: According to Fast Company, “Good.Co, (is) a new platform currently in semi-private beta that uses proven psychometric frameworks to help employers efficiently recognize people who would thrive in their unique environments–and on the flip side, to assist jobseekers and teams inside companies to figure out where they fit in the cultural landscape.” I’ve written about the importance of finding a job you love and analyzing if a job is right for you, so I was excited to hear about this app. Take quizzes to evaluate your personality and whether or not a company is the right fit for you.
This isn’t new, but I also highly recommend the Clifton StrengthsFinder. It was so helpful for clarifying my strengths as well as how my ethical values come to play in the workplace. Another helpful exercise was making a simple list of what I enjoyed most and least about each place I worked.
